How do I know what size generator I need?

Use our Generator Sizing Guide to add up the running and starting wattage of everything you want to power simultaneously, then add 20% headroom. That total is your minimum rated-wattage target.

Can I use an inverter generator with sensitive electronics?

Yes. Inverter generators produce clean sine-wave power with less than 3% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), which is safe for laptops, phones, medical devices, and all sensitive electronics.

What’s the advantage of dual-fuel?

Dual-fuel generators run on gasoline or propane. Propane stores indefinitely and burns cleaner, while gasoline delivers slightly more peak power. Having both options gives you fuel redundancy during emergencies.

Do I need a transfer switch?

If you plan to power your home’s circuits during an outage, yes. A transfer switch safely connects your generator to your electrical panel and prevents dangerous back-feeding to the utility grid. Some are DIY-friendly; others require a licensed electrician.

Are your prices accurate?

We use price tiers ($/$$/$$$/$$$$/$$$$$) rather than exact dollar amounts because prices change frequently. Click through to Amazon or eBay for real-time pricing and availability.
